Guidelines for Childhood Eye Exams
The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus agree that all children should have their eyes examined by the pediatric or family doctor at birth and at all regular check-ups before school. At the age of 3 to 4, the exams should include vision testing using acuity charts.
Contact Lenses
Contact lenses are used to correct the same conditions that eyeglasses correct:
- Myopia (nearsightedness);
- Hyperopia (farsightedness);
- Astigmatism (blurred vision due to the shape of the cornea);
- Presbyopia (inability to see close up).
Millions of people around the world wear contact lenses, more than 24 million in the United States alone. Depending on your lifestyle, your motivation and the health of your eyes, contact lenses may provide a safe and effective alternative to eyeglasses when used with proper care and maintenance. The health of your eye surface and tear film are very important to your comfort and the clarity of your vision when you are wearing contacts.
Larson Eye Center is very pleased to be participating providers for VSP, Eye Med and Humana VCP vision insurances.

Botox

You may be a candidate for Botox® if you have lines or deep grooves along your forehead between your eyebrows, or around the corners of your eyes (crow's feet) that bother you. Botox injections are a temporary solution for reducing the appearance of lines and can last anywhere from 3-5 months. You may return to normal activities immediately following your appointment. It usually takes 3-4 days to see the effects of Botox. Botox can also be used to treat overactive sweat glands in the armpits as well as help in the treatment of Migraine headaches. On an occasional patient Botox is used in the mouth area to decease the appearance of vertical lip lines.
Reasons for Considering a Botox Treatment:
- Excessive facial wrinkles.
- Large wrinkles or furrows in your forehead.
- Small wrinkles or "crow's feet" around your eyes.
- A vertical "frown line" between your eyebrows.
