The Wave Front or CustomVue™ LASIK / PRK procedure measures and corrects the unique imperfections of each patient's vision and provides you with the potential to experience better vision than is possible with glasses or contacts.
The procedure employs an exciting new technology called Wave Front analysis. This Wave Front laser analyzer (aberrometer) captures a "fingerprint" of your eye's optical system that is 25 times more precise than previously available. It can capture specific imperfections (or aberrations) of your eye and use this data to generate an individualized treatment.
The technique is the same as traditional LASIK or PRK except that the laser ablation pattern is based on your optical "fingerprint" and not just your eyeglass prescription.

Currently, CustomVue™ LASIK is available for patients who are nearsighted (prescriptions up to -6.00 diopters) and/or have astigmatism (up to 3 diopters). Additional FDA approvals are expected for higher levels of nearsightedness, as well as farsightedness. Wave front-based LASIK can also be used to "enhance" patients who have had previous traditional LASIK procedures.
